Position Overview

We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Program Manager to oversee the governance, implementation, reporting, and communication of the Smartcane BMP program. This role is critical in building the industry's social license, underpinning sustainable sourcing, providing insights on adoption of practices, and facilitating reporting of greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions and other ESG metrics.

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage the governance, implementation and reporting of the Smartcane BMP program including its farm practice standards, accreditation procedures, data management, and communications.
  • Facilitate the evolution and implementation of the Smartcane BMP Strategy to achieve the program's objectives and realise its full potential for growers and the industry as a whole.
  • Support growers' participation in the program through a network of district facilitators and associated regional delivery contracts.
  • Monitor and manage the budget, milestones and reporting requirements of funding agreements that resource the program, to ensure objectives are met.
  • Communicate program goals, activities, and achievements to stakeholders including growers, industry partners, and the Queensland Government.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in agriculture, environmental science, natural resource management or a relevant discipline.
  • Proven capacity for strategic and conceptual thinking that identifies and addresses needs and opportunities in both the near-term and the future.
  • Experience in program and project management, preferably in the agricultural or environmental sector.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Proven experience in team building, people management, conflict management and negotiation.
