Position Overview
Mimal Land Management is seeking a dedicated and dynamic Volunteer Coordinator to develop and oversee a comprehensive volunteer management system. This role involves recruiting and managing volunteers, ensuring effective operations on the ground, and identifying and fostering project opportunities. The Volunteer Coordinator will play a crucial role in enhancing volunteer engagement and satisfaction while supporting various field operations in Arnhem Land.
Key Responsibilities
- Volunteer Management System:
- Implement a structured volunteer management system with clear processes for recruitment, onboarding, training, and exit interviews
- Create and maintain templates for volunteer descriptions, performance evaluations, and feedback collection
- Recruitment and Placement:
- Recruit volunteers based on organizational needs, including general skills, trade skills, and specific project requirements
- Research and identify opportunities for volunteer involvement, ensuring alignment with organizational goals and project needs
- Volunteer Support and Operations:
- Oversee daily operations to ensure volunteers have the necessary equipment and resources for their tasks
- Coordinate and support volunteer activities across multiple groups and outstations (e.g., 4-5 groups, 8 outstations)
- Explore creative spaces and opportunities that do not involve paid staff roles
- Project and Partnership Development:
- Identify and develop pathways for future partnerships and collaborations
- Fieldwork and Logistics:
- Support volunteers attending fieldwork activities, including trips to Bulman and surrounding areas
- Support volunteers by assisting with hosting fire meetings and philanthropic donor visits, interacting with stakeholders who have diverse backgrounds
- Feedback and Improvement:
- Collect and analyse volunteer feedback to improve programs and processes
- Monitor and manage seasonal peaks and troughs in volunteer activity
- KPIs and Performance Metrics:
- Establish and track KPIs related to volunteer management, including system implementation, volunteer satisfaction, and growth targets
- Aim to increase the number of active volunteers from 30 individuals within 12 months, with measurable and targeted outcomes
Required Skills and Experience
- Proven experience in the volunteer sector or related fields
- Strong skills in logistics management, contract management, and stakeholder engagement
- Experience in recruitment or employment management
- Exceptional organizational and planning abilities
- Proficiency in handling difficult conversations and adapting to various environments
- Bush skills and experience working in remote areas
- Confident driving skills, including experience with a 4WD manual vehicle on dirt roads
