About Conservation Partners
We work with people or organisations who own or control land with significant biodiversity values, helping them assemble the necessary skills and expertise to address conservation problems on the ground. We are currently undertaking conservation projects involving multiple threatened species on several properties in western Queensland and Cape York Peninsula. Where necessary, we undertake applied research to inform conservation management. We also invest heavily in quantitative monitoring which is integrated into our conservation and land management actions.
About the Role
We are seeking a passionate and highly motivated individual with skills and prior experience in conservation and land management. The role will focus primarily on conservation management of the Golden-shouldered Parrot. The candidate will work mostly at Artemis Station on central Cape York Peninsula – a working cattle station. Basic share accommodation is provided while you are working on site. Working rosters are semi-flexible and typically follow a 10 day fortnight with the option to travel (Cairns or Atherton Tablelands) on time off. Travel allowances are provided to cover the use of personal vehicles. A daily food allowance is provided to subsidise the cost of living away from home. This is a four month position (September to December), with the possibility of extension.
This is unique opportunity to be involved with the conservation of a charismatic and highly threatened species. It is a physically demanding role in a challenging and remote location, but provides a rewarding and enjoyable lifestyle to the right candidate.
