About the Opportunity

Working as part of our team this position is to manage and complete a wide range of ecological projects including taking ownership of all aspects of project delivery to provide a fully integrated outcome in a manner that maintains and enhances Umwelt's reputation. This position is also expected to fulfil Project Manager responsibilities as appropriate.

The role will have a business development support function leveraging from Umwelt's strong ecology reputation and from the individual's existing relationships and ability to form strong and lasting relationships with clients.

As a Senior team member this position is responsible for effective management of project budgets, timeframes and resources to ensure effective project delivery; an ongoing focus on achieving quality project outcomes and enhancing client relationships; and is expected to assist the organisation with obtaining new projects through completion of high-quality proposals and other business development functions. The position is expected to contribute to the Victorian Ecology team's direction and development.

About you

We are looking for motivated and enthusiastic Senior Ecologist who has the following qualifications, skills, and attributes:

• Tertiary qualifications in a relevant field with 5+ years' experience. Prior consulting experience highly regarded.
• Demonstrated experience with relevant Victorian biodiversity survey and assessment requirements.
• Experience leading and/or playing a key role on ecology surveys, assessments, and reporting.
• Ability to develop and maintaining positive relationships with a range of stakeholders including peers, clients, and government agencies.
• Ability to work in a professional team as well as autonomously.
• Highly motivated with a strong team commitment.
• Be willing to work flexible hours and travel for work including working away from home to complete ecological surveys in locations throughout Victoria.
• Willingness to support the development and implementation of the growth strategy for the ecology workstream in Victoria.
• Ability to assist in the preparation of successful large tender/proposal documents.
• Knowledge of infrastructure and renewables sectors.
