The North Coast LLS region is a NSW is a diverse natural landscape with a mix of temperate and subtropical climates providing nationally recognised biodiversity and wilderness and wetland areas, and complex and diverse soil systems. The region encompasses Ballina, Bellingen, Byron, Clarence Valley, Coffs Harbour, Kempsey, Kyogle, Lismore, Nambucca, Port Macquarie-Hastings, Richmond Valley or Tweed local government areas.

We are looking for two pest animal experts to join our North Coast team. Both of these roles will work with a skilled and dedicated team to deliver Invasive Pest control services and projects across the North Coast region.

• The Pest Coordinator role will work closely with the Invasive Pests Team Leader and Biosecurity staff to coordinate community engagement in pest animal control projects. The role will support the regional Pest Animal Advisory Committee and assist the team to bring stakeholders together at more local scales where key pest animal control projects are required. The Coordinator will have a key role in supporting the development of local and regional pest animal plans which promote cross tenure, landscape scale pest management projects.
• The Pest Project Officer role is funded by the Early Needs Recovery Program, which is part of the $150 Million Primary Industries Support Package. This role will deliver Flood Recovery Pest Control projects, working closely with the Invasive Pest on-ground team. Focused on supporting landholders impacted by flood, this role will provide support across the North Coast region.

What you need to undertake these roles:

• A degree in agricultural, environmental, natural resource management, and/or equivalent knowledge and experience in pest animal management.
• Strong project management skills and knowledge on incentive project delivery.
• Excellent communication skills to engage and collaborate with key stakeholders and build partnerships.
• Planning skills to support the development of regional and local pest plans.
• A passion to develop and implement innovative solutions to complex natural resource management issues.
• A working knowledge of the legislative and policy framework underpinning Biosecurity in NSW.
• Understand the needs and issues facing landholders and stakeholders in the North Coast region.
• Have a Current NSW Class C Driver and be willing to undertake regular travel within the North Coast LLS regions including overnight trips.

You should be comfortable with both working independently and leading a small team, with a focus on collaborating effectively and providing inputs to strategy and planning processes.
