The Role

Ecoscape is seeking a self motivated and enthusiastic Senior Botanist / Ecologist with a minimum of five to eight years of botanical or ecological experience in consulting or relevant work environments to join our growing Environment team. The successful candidate will be positive, adaptable and team focussed; looking to progress their career and contribute to the development of the business.

The right candidate will have considerable technical botanical expertise and proven experience in independently managing projects. You will be responsible for the management of biological surveys, the preparation of technical reports and will contribute to the development and mentoring of junior staff. Experience in client management and the preparation of quotes is also desirable. You will also have a sound understanding of relevant State and Commonwealth legislation and guidelines, and the ability to communicate this information to our clients both verbally and in technical reports.

To be successful in the role the applicant will be able to meet the essential criteria listed below.

Essential Criteria

• A tertiary degree in botany, ecology, or environmental science or related discipline.
• Five to eight years practical experience undertaking botanical surveys or environmental monitoring in Western Australia.
• Led detailed and reconnaissance flora surveys including targeted surveys for conservation significant flora.
• Prepared detailed biological reports for environmental impact assessment and compliance.
• Experience in leading biological surveys and managing teams.
• Good data management and statistical analysis skills.
• Experience in Geographic Information Systems (GIS) (e.g. ESRI ArcGIS and / or QGIS).
• Proven technical report writing ability.
• Ability to work flexible hours and undertake field surveys in remote areas for extended periods.
• Current manual Western Australian Driver's License.

Desirable criteria

• Experience working in mining, heavy industry or infrastructure related projects.
• Pilbara flora experience.
• Vegetation health monitoring experience.
• Flora identification experience.
• Qualifications in Senior First Aid, remote area four wheel driving.
