Position and organisational overview

CO2 Australia is an award-winning environmental services company that has been operating since 2004. Our core business offerings include integrated land management, large-scale revegetation projects, environmental approvals support and the delivery of greenhouse emissions reduction solutions. With offices in Brisbane, Perth, Canberra and Wagga Wagga, we are able to deliver projects Australia-wide.

This is a newly created position that will work with a team of experts to oversee the successful delivery of large scale revegetation projects across Australia. The position will be responsible for managing and coordinating various field based operations for revegetation works, land management activities and carbon sequestration projects.

Travel from the base office will occur on a regular basis and will likely require extended stays away from home. All work must be undertaken in accordance with company procedures. The Operations Manager is expected to maintain a safe workplace, including compliance with CO2 Australia's Health and Safety Management System.

Reporting relationships

The position reports to the Head of Carbon Markets and Delivery and will supervise a team of Project Officers.

Key responsibilities

Support the the Head of Carbon Markets and Delivery in the management and delivery of a range of carbon projects including large scale revegetation. This includes:

• Coordinating in consultation with relevant Project Officers all field-based operations across the Carbon Markets and Delivery team.
• Preparation of reports, management plans and contributing to budgets.
• Providing training for field staff, ensuring data quality standards are consistently met.
• Management and delivery of work programs in accordance with agreed timeframes and budgets.
• Assisting with fire protection responsibilities.
• As required, provide support and manage aspects of new project development, across the company's diverse range of environmental services.

Key Knowledge, Skills And Experience Required

• A degree qualification, preferably in the sciences, forestry, agriculture or natural resource management fields would be highly regarded.
• Experience (4-6 years) in similar roles.
• Capable of understanding various planning and compliance requirements under Federal, state and territory and local government legislation most notably methodologies administered by the Clean Energy Regulator.
• Ability to manage your own work program with a high level of autonomy and self-direction, as well as that of a team of contractors during planting and carbon sequestration fieldwork programs.
• Ability to rapidly acquire knowledge and new skills and work autonomously in a fast paced environment.
• Team player with strong interpersonal and communication skills.
• Good organisational skills, project management and ability to work independently to deadlines and budgets.
• Working knowledge of GIS and GPS, including basic mapping and analysis skills using ArcGIS, will be highly regarded.

Other Information

• Travel to Project sites with extended overnight stays will be required on a regular basis.
• Must be licensed to drive a motor vehicle.
• A work vehicle will be supplied for the Operations Manager position and limited private use of that vehicle is allowed.
• The Operations Manager position will be supplied with a computer, work tools, work apparel and a mobile phone with limited private use of the mobile phone allowed.
