President - Volunteer Role

The President is responsible for focusing on the core functions of Coastal Dry Tropics Landcare Incorporated (CDTLI) to enable it to achieve its long term vision. Specifically, this person will need to ensure that the group's operations, fundraising, marketing and program strategies are effectively managed and implemented. Immediate start required. Approximately 30 hours a month.

Roles and Responsibilities

  • Review and understand the organisation's articles of incorporation and by-laws, policies and procedures, financial and legal situation, and strategic plan.
  • Ensure the CDTLI Board are performing to the needs to the organisation.
  • Chair meetings of the CDTLI Board and of members.
  • Ensure the CDTLI Board adheres to the organisations by-laws and constitution.
  • Provide leadership to the CDTLI Board.
  • Keep CDTLI Board discussions on topic.
  • Keep the CDTLI Board activities focused on the group's Vision and Mission.
  • Act as a signing officer for cheques and other documents such as contracts and grant applications.
  • Support fundraising activities.
  • Prepare a report for the Annual General Meeting and monthly reports for the board.
  • Promote the group's purpose within the community.
  • Act as employer of, and manage all, CDTLI employees.
  • Supervise the day to day operations of CDTLI.
  • Establish effective decision-making processes that will enable the group to achieve its long and short term goals and objectives.
  • Cultivate a strong and transparent working relationship within the group and ensure open communication.
  • Ensure finances permit the group to make continuous progress towards the achievement of its mission and that funds are allocation property to reflect present needs and future potential.
  • Support and motivate members of the group.
  • Facilitate cross-team collaboration and strong internal communications throughout the group.
  • Create and promote a positive, collaborative environment that supports the organisations strategy, operational methods and data collection.
  • With the Treasurer, set financial priorities to ensure the group is operating in a manner that supports the needs of the organisation and people.
  • Be familiar with CDTLI information so when approached by members / community you are able to give the correct advice. This information includes but is not limited to: name / location of Landcare sites; current projects; mission, vision and strategic goals; group resources and educational material; scheduled events.
