Where will you work?

This role is located in our Greater Sydney Local Land Services region. Greater Sydney LLS is a high performing, dynamic and supportive organisation that prides themselves on its positive workplace culture. This region is extremely diverse and comprises some of the most highly populated localities in NSW, but also includes a huge variety of natural areas including mountains, waterways, estuaries and coastlines. It is home to the renowned Blue Mountains and some of the state's most iconic natural and human landscapes including the Hawkesbury River, Sydney Harbour and Botany Bay. About the role

As our Senior Land Services Officer (Biodiversity and Waterways), you will be responsible for delivering services and advice to the community to assist in the management of landscapes and natural resources, particularly biodiversity and waterways across Greater Sydney. You will be working in a collaborative team of expert science practitioners and community engagement specialists to make a real difference on the ground and in influencing land manager practice change.

Key duties will include:

• Working with landholders, agencies, and non-government organisations to develop projects and programs to enhance environmental assets and outcomes through on-ground activity and community engagement.
• Project managing grant funded projects as well as collecting and collating data on project outcomes for reporting purposes.
• Identifying strategic opportunities for Greater Sydney LLS to invest in or to value-add to existing programs to maximise environmental outcomes.
• Assisting in the delivery of emergency planning and response.

What you need to do this role:

• A degree in environmental, natural resource management, agricultural, biosecurity and emergency management and/or equivalent level of industry knowledge and experience.
• An understanding of, and experience in, environmental management in the Greater Sydney region.
• An understanding of, and experience in, the use of Geographic Information Systems and field mapping, spreadsheets and databases.
• Current NSW Driver Licence and the ability and willingness to travel.

Our ideal candidate will be driven to facilitate excellent stakeholder communication and engagement to achieve effective management of landscapes and natural resources in the region. You will be organised and possess a great eye for detail to assist in the reporting and application tasks required for this role. Having knowledge or experience in bush regeneration or environmental restoration will allow you to thrive in this role.
