The Loddon Plains Landcare Network is a not-for-profit orgranisation that formed in 2009. Situated on the Loddon Plains in North Central Victoria, it comprises 18 member Landcare and NRM community groups. The Network is overseen by a Committee of Management drawn from member groups. Its mission is securing healthy landscapes on the Loddon Plains.

The Network runs a landscape restoration project called the GOANNA Project aimed at getting large scale projects off the ground at the Network level targeting priority sites in the Loddon Shire.

The Network is seeking a person to fill the dual role of Landcare Facilitator (0.4 FTE) and GOANNA Project Worker (0.4 FTE)

The Landcare Facilitator part of the position is funded through the Victorian Government Landcare Facilitator Program 2021-24.

Key responsibilities include:

  1. Assist the Network and its member groups in developing and implementing projects that protect and enhance natural resources of the area.
  2. Assist the Network and its member groups with strategic planning and provide advice where required to ensure progress is being made at the network and local level.
  3. Assist in compilation and submission of grants and sourcing other funding opportunities.
  4. Assist in the development and provision of workshops, field days and information sessions relating to Network and member group priorities.
  5. Explore education opportunities and the roll out of school Landcare activities.
  6. Complete comprehensive reports to Local, State and Federal Government.
  7. Assist in the promotion of the Landcare Network and member groups including managing website content, newsletter compilation, annual reports and advertising.
  8. Continue to build relationships with other local groups, Networks and agencies to better share resources, strategies and project outcomes.
  9. Provide monthly written reports to the Committee of Management.

The GOANNA Project Worker part of the position is funded through the North Central Catchment Management Authority and the Wettenhall Environment Trust.

Key responsibilities include:

  1. Implement the Network's 'Blueprint for Action'.
  2. Manage the relationships with Loddon Plains Landcare Network partners.
  3. Develop and compile large scale restoration projects.
  4. Effectively obtain grant funding towards large scale restoration projects.
  5. Manage the Loddon Plains Community Bird Monitoring Project Volunteers.
  6. Follow Occupational Health and Safety procedures for events and on-ground works.

Key Selection Criteria

  • A thorough knowledge and understanding of natural resource management issues.
  • Project management skills, including project development, budgeting and reporting.
  • Strong facilitation and interpersonal skills working with a wide range of people.
  • Well-developed negotiation and problem solving skills.
  • High level written and oral communication skills, excellent computer skills.
  • Self - motivated and able to work autonomously.
  • Able to set priorities and manage competing demands.
  • Hold a current driver's licence.

Other relevant skills, knowledge and experience

  • An understanding of the communities and farming enterprises in the Network's area.
  • Experience managing volunteers or working with community groups.
  • GIS and mapping experience.
