About the role 

Are you an experienced wildlife biologist/ecologist looking for a senior role in a passionate team? The Ecosure wildlife team are recognised as experts in their field. We have an exciting and diverse portfolio of projects which include some of Australia’s most iconic species. We undertake fauna surveys for protected and threatened species at sites across Australia. We implement wildlife health surveillance programs to assist in population recovery, and we are leaders in human-wildlife conflict, which includes employing novel solutions to allow humans and wildlife to coexist in harmony. 

We are looking for an enthusiastic and passionate Senior Wildlife Biologist/Senior Fauna Ecologist to join our Southeast Queensland team. Ideally, we are seeking someone with in-depth knowledge and experience in biology, ecology, project management, proposal and report writing.  

You will manage multiple and multi-faceted projects from inception to completion, undertaking work across Australia for a range of clients (primarily local and state government). Key project areas for the role include:  

• wildlife population assessments and threatened species monitoring  
• human-wildlife conflict mitigation e.g. human safety around dingoes, managing wildlife in an urban environment while prioritising welfare and conservation  
• threat identification and mitigation (e.g. developing pest animal management strategies, reducing road strike and other causes of urban mortality).  

Required Skills and Experience  

• Qualifications in one or more of: wildlife biology, ecology, environmental science, or related disciplines  
• Strong understanding of wildlife management principles and fauna survey methods  
• Passionate about wildlife and achieving positive environmental outcomes  
• Consulting and project management experience  
• Demonstrated business development and client liaison skills 
• Fluent proposal, report writing ability and technical writing skills  
• Strong project management to deliver within scope, budget, and timeframes. 
• High level interpersonal and client relationship management skills including aptitude for developing customer relationships.  
• The ability to plan and coordinate teams for fieldwork  
• Passionate about wildlife and achieving positive environmental outcomes.   

Overall, the following skills and attributes would be highly regarded: 

• Manual drivers licence  
• The ability to build successful team dynamics and mentor  
• First Aid/CPR  
• Major project safety inductions and training, including construction white card.
