Barwon Coast Committee of Management is responsible for managing approximately 15 kilometres of coastal Crown land in and around Ocean Grove and Barwon Heads.  Within this jurisdiction Barwon Coast operate Barwon heads Caravan Park, Riverview Family Caravan Park and Riverside Campground which provides the revenue stream to conduct its operations.

The Coastal Planning Manager is accountable for the strategic and detailed planning associated with the protection and management of the coastal reserves.  Strategic planning incorporates natural and built assets within Barwon Coast landscape zones and gives special attention to addressing local issues impacting threatened species.

The Coastal Planning Manager is responsible for supporting Barwon Coast in achieving the objectives of its Coastal and Marine Management Plan 2020/2025.

The position reports directly to the Chief Executive Officer but is not part of the Senior Management team. The position is expected to be a full-time, however, consideration such as part time employment (four days a week), flexible start and finish times and some working from home can be accommodated. 

Skills, Experience and Attributes

We are looking for someone who has experience in statutory planning, environmental planning, public open space planning or similar strategic coastal planning and has a strong understanding of legislation and policy relevant to coastal planning in Victoria and the management of Crown Land. A good knowledge of Aboriginal Cultural Heritage legislation will be favourable.
