As the successful candidate, you will manage small- to large-size projects and contribute to other projects, from the collection and analysis of data, to the production of technical reports.

You should be able to provide accurate advice to clients on the environmental policy and legislative implications of their projects. Project management skills are preferred, and previous experience in consulting is highly desirable.

You will be prepared to work flexible hours, work away from home for short periods, and occasionally travel in a company vehicle to remote field locations throughout south-eastern Australia, but mostly within Victoria. A Victorian Manual Driver's Licence and capacity to work outdoors in remote locations are essential.

Selection Criteria:

As the successful candidate, you will have:

  • Tertiary qualifications in the ecological sciences.
  • A working knowledge of Victorian native and naturalised flora, including identification methods and ecology, with proficient field-identification skills.
  • Minimum 2+ years' (or 5+ years' for Senior) experience in ecological consulting or similar, including with the planning and implementation of surveys and monitoring, data analysis and preparation of technical reports.
  • A good understanding of Commonwealth and State environmental legislation and policies, including the Native Vegetation clearing regulations and DELWP's vegetation quality assessment (habitat hectare) methodology.
  • The ability to manage projects independently with limited supervision in a supportive team environment, and to work on and deliver multiple projects within required timelines and budgets.
  • The ability to effectively communicate and work collaboratively with colleagues, clients and stakeholders alike.
  • An excellent work ethic, a team-oriented approach, and a strong sense of personal and professional integrity.

Conditions of Employment:

Ecology Australia is proud to offer a flexible, supportive and enriching work environment. The current position is full-time, with the option of part-time (0.8FTE). It will involve both field work and office work, depending on the individual requirements of each project. The successful applicant will be expected to spend periods of time in the field, sometimes in remote locations.

Ecology Australia has accredited Environmental, Quality and Safety systems and operates under a strict COVIDSafe Plan that is regularly updated to align with the latest DHHS directives and advice.

Applicants must have a current Victorian Manual Driver's Licence.

The salary is negotiable, based on level of experience.
