The Senior Water Project Officer is responsible for supporting key processes that contribute to the successful development and implementation of statutory and non-statutory Water Planning Processes, including Water Allocation Plans and Water Affecting Activity Control Policies.

Key Role Outcomes

  • Effective contribution to the development, implementation, and review of statutory and non-statutory water planning documents including Water Allocation Plans, Water Affecting Activity Control Policies and associated projects.
  • Best natural resources management and water management practices are researched and recommended for regional and sub-regional planning.
  • Internal and external stakeholders (including the community, industry, state and local government) are engaged to provide input to natural resource and water resource management planning and projects.
  • The Region's water affecting activities permit system is effectively implemented and maintained.
  • Water monitoring, evaluation and reporting projects are co-ordinated and delivered in line with Hills and Fleurieu Landscape Board objectives and priorities.
  • The Team Leader, Water Resources, is supported in preparing timely, informed and expert advice and recommendations for the Hills and Fleurieu Landscape Board, the Minister, General Manager and key stakeholders.

Special Conditions

  • Position is located in Mt Barker.
  • May be required to participate in fire management or associated duties.
  • A current class 'C' driver's licence, and willingness to drive, is essential.
  • Some out of hours work, intrastate travel involving overnight absences from home or out of normal office hours is required as part of the position.
  • This role has been designated as a Position of Trust pursuant to the standards required in the Australian Government Protective Security Policy Framework. By applying for this role you consent to being screened under the process of obtaining a National Police Clearance (NPC), and to the Board requiring you to obtain an NPC.

Contract: Full-time, 37.5 Hours per week, for 2 years.

Remuneration: $82,042 - $91,245 per annum (ASO5).
