We are looking for an enthusiastic team leader to join our Rockhampton office and lead our Central Queensland Environmental Services team. We are ideally seeking a Senior Ecologist / Environmental Scientist, with strong skills in team leadership, environmental project management and an environmental science discipline (i.e., Australian flora or fauna ecology, environmental planning, GIS analysis, water or construction/soil science etc).

You will have the opportunity to assist in delivering environmental management and conservation planning solutions on both large and small-scale projects throughout Central Queensland for a variety of clients.

The role will involve assessments in accordance with State and Commonwealth guidelines, data management, report preparation, proposal preparation, client liaison, and a strong focus on project and budget management.

About You

To be successful in this role you will have:

• Tertiary qualifications in Environmental Science/Environmental Planning/Ecology/Zoology.
• Experience leading and developing a small team.
• Working knowledge of Queensland and Commonwealth environmental legislation.
• Skills and experience in ecological surveys and reporting in Queensland and/or New South Wales.
• Strong project, budget, and client management skills.
• Experience in Environmental Impact Statement requirements in Queensland relating to ecology.
• Experience in planning, coordinating and undertaking fieldwork, as well as a willingness and capability to conduct remote field work.
• Demonstrated data analysis and report writing skills.
• Experience in preparing a range of high-quality consulting reports:
  • Fauna habitat and survey techniques.
  • Fauna identification and handling.
  • Queensland flora species.
  • Queensland regional ecosystems framework.
• Well-developed analytical, written, and verbal communication skills.
• Current driver's licence - manual licence preferred.
