Koala Clancy Foundation Victoria seeks a casual Tree Planting Assistant to assist us achieve our koala tree planting target.

Koala Clancy Foundation was the first organisation in Australia to plant trees specifically for koalas. Since 2016 we have planted 57,200 trees, run Koala Tree Planting Workshops, inspired other groups to plant trees, and contributed to scientific research. In 2022, with your help, we will co-ordinate the planting of 25,000+ koala trees in regions where wild koalas need them most. You will be working in a small, enthusiastic team, and helping to co-ordinate volunteers. Our offices are in Staughton Vale, and planting occurs around the wider Geelong region.


Position is casual and for a fixed term from May to September, with the possibility of extension. Many of the work days will be weekend days.

The work will be mostly outdoors setting up for tree planting days on private farmland in the Geelong region.


The successful applicant must have or be willing to procure:

  • A current manual Victorian Drivers License.
  • A current Working With Children Check.
  • A current Level 2 First Aid Certificate.

To be considered, your skills must include:

  • Experience in native tree planting and natural area regeneration,.
  • An understanding of conservation and sustainability ethics,.
  • An ability to be organised, punctual and to meet deadlines,.
  • An ability to learn and work in a team.
  • A pleasant, friendly manner.

Applicants with a comprehensive understanding of Australian wildlife and flora, experience driving in muddy conditions and driving a trailer, will be preferred.

Note: You will not be required to handle or spray herbicides - that job is done by a contractor in advance of the planting.
