Due to the increase in projects across Victoria and interstate, we are seeking to appoint motivated and enthusiastic individuals who wish to take that next step in their career. We are currently recruiting for multiple positions including both senior and mid-level Heritage Advisors (Archaeologists).

These positions provide excellent prospects in a growing business for the right person.

These roles are based in our Melbourne office, primarily as part of our Victorian operations. You will be joining a large established team of heritage consultants, giving you excellent career opportunities.

Qualifications/Experience/Skills

  • Tertiary qualifications, preferably an Honours degree in Archaeology or Anthropology (or Arts or Science) with an emphasis on Australian Aboriginal archaeology.
  • Practical experience in cultural heritage consulting (minimum of 6 years for Senior role)
  • Demonstrated Project Management experience with Cultural Heritage Management Plans
  • Current listing, or can meet the requirements to be listed, as a Heritage Advisor per Aboriginal Victoria guidelines will be highly regarded
  • Current Drivers License (manual) and capacity to work outdoors essential.
  • You should be prepared to work flexible hours, including during field surveys, and be willing to travel to field locations throughout Australia, although mainly in Victoria. Field opportunities are also available in Queensland, WA, NSW, ACT and South Australia.
  • Other non-technical skills required include a passion for heritage, excellent communication and project management skills, high level of computer literacy, and ability to work autonomously as well as part of a specialist team.
  • Knowledge of and how to apply cultural heritage legislation such as the Aboriginal Heritage Act 2006 and Heritage Act 2017 and local Government policy in the context of planning and development impacts;
  • Ability to contribute to the preparation of cultural heritage reports such as Cultural Heritage Management Plans (CHMPs), Historical assessments of places, archaeological salvage, and due diligence advice to clients.
