The NSW National Parks and Wildlife Service is developing the Gardens of Stone State Conservation Area as the new destination for adventure tourism in New South Wales. The establishment of new multi-day walking experiences, mountain biking networks, camping and day use facilities and a commercial adventure activities hub with zip-lines and via-ferrata, will all be part of the new reserve, and a key focus of this exciting new career opportunity.

  • Temporary full-time position up to 36 months with possible extension.
  • Lithgow location (location negotiable).
  • Package includes salary ($99,431 - $110,064) plus super and annual leave loading.

About the Role:

This multi-million dollar project requires an energetic project officer with experience in infrastructure projects or tourism and visitor experience planning. This role will assist in the project planning, implementation and contract management to ensure the successful delivery of the highly anticipated visitor experiences and tourism infrastructure in this new reserve.

You will be working as part of a small project team focussed on delivering the planning and subsequent procurement and development of the new visitor facilities, mountain biking and multi-day walking tourism opportunities.

The Gardens of Stone presents an exciting opportunity to combine your infrastructure construction experience, together with visitor and project management skills, to revitalise an amazing destination within a sensitive natural environment.

About You

To be successful in the role, you will have:

  • Demonstrated ability to meet project deadlines and liaise with key internal and external stakeholders to ensure the smooth delivery of projects, including monitoring and reporting of project budgets, resource requirements, stakeholder engagement, contract administration, and procurement.
  • Experience working with professional services including landscape and building architects, engineering disciplines, varied construction contractors and commercial tourism operators.

Essential Role Requirements

  • Appropriate tertiary qualifications and/or equivalent relevant working experience in project management.
  • Experience in development and delivery of projects, including the development of project plans, monitoring of project timelines, budgets and reporting requirements, and contract administration.
