Pilbara Regional Biosecurity Group Inc.

Pilbara region preferred, flexible within WA

Salary etc:

Working in a part-time Contractor role, the Executive Officer is a key regional leadership position and will be responsible for Pilbara Regional Biosecurity Group (Pilbara RBG) administration and support including financial management and meeting governance and legal requirements, building effective working relationships with a wide range of stakeholders, planning and implementing programs and projects, managing contracts and contractors, sourcing funding and partnerships, communications and public relations, ongoing liaison with the Department of Primary Industries and Regional Development (DPIRD) and networking with the other 12 recognised biosecurity groups across Western Australia.

The Executive Officer reports to the Chair of the Pilbara RBG Management Committee. As a self-starter, it is expected that the incumbent will contribute towards improving the effectiveness of systems and programs, including the development of new systems and programs where required.

The Pilbara RBG is a not-for-profit association formed under the Associations Incorporation Act 2015, providing declared pest control programs for land managers in the Pilbara region of Western Australia, particularly in the pastoral zone. The associations’ primary purpose is the control of declared pests using funding from Declared Pest Rates paid by landholders on pastoral stations. These Declared Pest Rates funds are matched dollar for dollar by the WA Government to reflect the public benefit of controlling declared pest animals and weeds.

The Executive Officer is accountable to the Pilbara RBG Management Committee to ensure effective systems and processes are developed and implemented for the following key responsibilities:

  • Operations management
  • Stakeholder relationships
  • Strategic planning
  • Finance and administration
