The Roles

Wild Environmental has several upcoming, exciting opportunities to provide resourcing support for some of our key clients. In preparation for these opportunities, we are seeking expressions of interest (EoI) from individuals for a variety of Project roles that, broadly, are grouped as follows:

  1. Environmental Officer/Supervisor Roles

These roles are site-based, with a focus on construction/operation phase environmental management and supervision. The responsibilities for these roles would include, but not be limited to:

  • Working collaboratively with Principal Contractors or operation teams to achieve the highest environmental outcomes in sensitive locations.
  • Developing and managing relationships with key stakeholders and regulatory agencies to achieve aligned outcomes.
  • Working with the greater project and environment teams to implement a project reporting matrix to ensure relevant processes and reviews are complete.
  • Managing and monitoring the incident reporting and notification processes alongside other project team members. 
  • Managing sub-contractors and consultants to undertake studies or implement and improve long-term biodiversity and ecological monitoring programs.

 Our ideal applicants will be able to demonstrate:

  • Bachelor degree with environmental specialisation or another related discipline
  • Minimum 2-3 years experience in a similar site-based role
  • Proactivity, goal orientation and attention to detail
  • Strong stakeholder management skills
  • Excellent time management and ability to adapt quickly to change
  • Experience planning and implementing site environmental audits
  • Knowledge of (and ensuring compliance with) environmental legislation

Possible role opportunities would be based in Brisbane, Mt Isa and across North Queensland, for projects in the mining, water infrastructure and transport infrastructure industries.

  1. Impact Assessment and Approvals Support Roles

These roles are largely desk-based, with a focus on supporting the planning and approvals processes for major new linear infrastructure and site-based developments. The responsibilities for these roles would include, but not be limited to:

  • Undertake environmental impact assessments
  • Develop approvals applications
  • Be responsible for primary authorship of reports
  • Coordinate multi-disciplinary project teams
  • Develop project solutions in collaboration with other internal/external professionals

 Our ideal applicants will be able to demonstrate:

  • Graduate or postgraduate qualifications in environmental science or environmental planning
  • A minimum of 3 years’ industry experience
  • Proven capability in professional technical writing
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Experience or exposure with document control, contracts management, budgets, and/or procurement
  • Familiarity with Queensland and Commonwealth environmental planning legislation
  • Confidence in managing projects with multiple moving parts and various technical inputs
  • Experience in dealing with regulatory agencies
  • Ability to clearly communicate complex approval matters to clients and other stakeholders.

Possible role opportunities would be based in Brisbane and the Whitsundays for projects in the transport infrastructure and aquaculture industries. Subject to COVID-19 restrictions, these roles would likely involve working in an office environment alongside the client’s project teams.

Commencement and duration of roles

Each of the project roles that we are seeking EoI for remain subject to confirmation by respective clients. We expect confirmation of roles incrementally over the first quarter of 2022.

As roles are confirmed by clients, we will look to shortlist EoI applicants for interview. Successful applicants will be offered a project-based contract for the duration of the project role. Roles are expected to vary in length from six months to two years.

Subject to satisfactory performance, applicants may be offered another project-based role or full-time employment role with Wild Environmental at the end of the initial project-based contract.
