Nursery Award 2020, Grade 2

Who we are and what we offer

Westgate Biodiversity: Bili Nursery and Landcare is inner Melbourne's leading Biodiversity charity operating an indigenous plant nursery in Port Melbourne and landcare activities at Westgate Park. We provide plants for revegetation projects across inner Melbourne, and undertake our own landcare activities centered around the revegetation and management of almost 50 hectares of public open space in the rapidly growing and changing Fisherman's Bend precinct.

We have an opportunity for a dedicated production horticulturist to join our team at Bili Nursery. The role offered is a casual (expectation of 2-3 days per week) position working within our professional and volunteer group at Bili Nursery, located in Port Melbourne. The successful applicant will be primarily tasked with pricking out, weed management, seed collection, plant maintenance and assisting volunteers - there is also scope for the right applicant to take on responsibilities in our public facing retail section.

Westgate Biodiversity is rapidly growing, and there are opportunities for more permanent and long term employment as well as professional development and growth within both the nursery and landcare activities.

What we're looking for

We are looking for an applicant who will be the right cultural fit for a large volunteer based organisation, with a mature outlook, a passion for indigenous plants, attention to detail and ability to work to targets. Experience and qualifications in horticulture, plant production, ecology, land management, botany or zoology will be favoured. Indigenous candidates are encouraged to apply.
