About the Role

We are looking for an enthusiastic Senior to join our team. Ideally, we are seeking a Senior Ecologist with strong skills, environmental project management and an environmental science discipline (i.e., Australian flora or fauna ecology, environmental planning, GIS analysis, water or construction/soil science etc.)

You will have the opportunity to assist in delivering environmental management and conservation planning solutions for a variety of diverse clients. This will involve assessments in accordance with State and Commonwealth guidelines, data management, report preparation, proposal preparation, client liaison, and strong project and budget management.

About You

To be successful in this role you will have:

  • Tertiary qualifications in Environmental Science/Environmental Planning/Ecology/Zoology
  • Working knowledge of NSW and Commonwealth environmental legislation
  • Skills and experience in ecological surveys and reporting in NSW
  • Strong project, budget, and client management skills
  • Experience in Environmental Impact Statement requirements in NSW relating to ecology
  • A strong understanding Biodiversity Assessment Methodology survey guidelines
  • Experience in planning, coordinating and undertaking fieldwork, as well as a willingness and capability to conduct remote field work
  • Demonstrated data analysis and report writing skills
  • Experience in preparing a range of high-quality consulting reports
  • Working knowledge of:
    • fauna habitat and survey techniques
    • fauna identification and handling
    • NSW flora species
    • NSW vegetation classification
  • A commitment to safety and safe work practices
  • Ability to work well with a variety of other people and work safely in the field
  • Well-developed analytical, written, and verbal communication skills
  • Current driver’s licence – manual licence preferred.

The following skills and attributes would be highly regarded:

  • BAM accredited assessor
  • First Aid/CPR
  • Prior ecological consulting experience (preferably in NSW)
  • Mapping abilities using QGIS and / or ArcGIS
  • Major project safety inductions and training, including construction white card
