Founded in New Zealand in 1959 as specialist engineering and environmental consultancy, Tonkin + Taylor has grown over the decades because of quality technical work and close client collaboration on important projects in the private and public sectors across transportation, energy, land development, and waste management industries. We are looking for a Civil, Environmental or Geological Engineer to help support a thriving and growing Environmental team. To be successful in this challenging and rewarding role, you will have strong interpersonal skills, be confident interacting with internal project stakeholders, have excellent communication skills and be keen to develop your technical skills under the guidance of our T+T specialist team members.

We are looking for someone who is passionate about all aspects of landfill design, construction, operation, management and rehabilitation along with other waste management infrastructure such as resource recovery, transfer stations, waste auditing and remediation. You will have the opportunity to work across a diverse project portfolio, in a company where our pipeline is growing by the day.

Role and responsibilities

  • Providing technical input into a diverse range of projects
  • Collecting valuable field data from construction supervision to environmental sample collection and monitoring.
  • Interacting with clients, building relationships and marketing
  • Collaborating in multi-disciplinary teams
  • Mentoring and development of the geotechnical team

About you

  • BE (Civil, Geological, Chemical or Environmental) or equivalent
  • 2 years' + experience in consultancy
  • Passionate about environmental engineering
  • An innovative, collaborative person who works well in a team
  • Strong marketing and client relationship skills
  • An enquiring mind which can identify and deliver innovative solutions and provide value to clients
