The Finance Manager will report to the CEO and work closely with program and department managers to oversee improved financial planning and processes to ensure effectiveness and compliance as the organisation continues to grow.   

The Finance Manager will be responsible for:

  • Developing and implementing strategies and tools to improve budgeting and accounting processes, reporting and overall financial effectiveness.
  • Managing compliance in line with relevant financial regulations in Australia, India and the Solomon Islands including the coordination of annual audits and associated financial reporting. 
  • Managing accounting processes including purchasing, invoicing, making payments and credit card management.
  • Working with the CEO to develop and report on budgets, including creating proactive cash flow tables for all campaigns and operations.
  • Assisting project coordinators with expense analysis and budget vs actual reporting.  
  • Payroll and superannuation processing.

We are seeking someone with:

  • A relevant finance or accounting degree.
  • A CA/CPA qualification.
  • 3+ years of post-qualification experience.
  • Experience in financial reporting, budgeting, cash flow modelling, audit, tax and compliance obligations.
  • Intermediate to advanced MS Excel skills.
  • Intermediate to Advanced Xero software knowledge.
  • An ability to analyse and communicate financial information and explain complex financial procedures in a simple way.
  • An ability to liaise with team members across the organisation, including at an executive level.
  • A confident, proactive, and adaptable approach.
  • A commitment to the vision and mission of Positive Change for Marine Life.
  • Experience working in the NFP sector (not essential, however highly regarded). 

Role and remuneration: The successful applicant will be offered a fixed-term contract for an initial 12 months (with the option to extend for the right candidate). The role will be part-time (0.2FTE) with flexibility in regards to day/s worked and location. Salary is $78,000 FTE/pro rata, including superannuation.
