About the role and your responsibilities:

As the Planning Officer (Asset and Risk), you will be responsible for the coordination and management of the asset and risk function within the region. This would include delivery planning, financial and limited resource management (human resources, facilities, assets, systems and staff training and development) in accordance with Parks Victoria’s policies, procedures and objectives. Your position includes responsibility for coordinating a function that is adaptable, flexible and responsive to community needs and key stakeholder expectations.

You may be required to work across the region based on the specific delivery of their functional responsibilities. You will lead, support and coordinate a functional service in order to deliver cost effective, timely, quality and appropriate service to meet the requirements of the Regional Operations Plan. As the Planning Officer (Asset and Risk), you will be supported by expert advice and planning through the Regional Area of Work Coordinator (Visitor Experiences and Historic Heritage).

We’re looking for someone with:

  • High level judgement experience in analytical problem solving and decision making
  • The ability to nurture stakeholder engagement and management
  • Experience in multiple portfolio management
  • A current employee Working with Children Check before commencing employment with us

About the branch:

The Operations Division is responsible for the service delivery of initiatives, programs and services. On-ground works and services will conserve environments, protect culture and heritage, manage visitor facilities and improve opportunities and support fire and emergency management. The Regional resources will support environmental, social and economic outcomes for rural, regional and urban communities. Service Delivery is managed and delivered within the demands of the Divisional Action Plan and the requirements of the Division’s Statewide fire and emergency role and in partnership with community and government agencies.

The Marine and Maritime Region consists of a diverse range of parks reserves, Local Ports and waterways including the districts South East Melbourne, Port Phillip Western Port and Waterways. Staff working within the Region are responsible for providing efficient and effective implementation of a broad range of often complex park management functions including natural, cultural and built asset management, visitor management and services, stakeholder management, park planning and emergency response.
