The Natural Environment Project Officer is responsible for supporting the planning and delivery of threatened fauna species recovery projects.

Key position tasks include scientific monitoring, surveying, planning, delivery (including fieldwork) and reporting to support delivery of Eastern Bristlebird and Critical Weight Range Mammals (CWRM) threatened species projects.

This position is part of the Gippsland Biodiversity Recovery and Response Program (BBRR) team within Natural Environment Programs. The BBRR team is a small group of environmental professionals who take collective ownership for supporting a positive team culture and achieving BBRR program goals through high quality service delivery.

Specialist/Technical Expertise/Qualifications

  • Qualifications in natural resource management and/or relevant experience is mandatory.
  • Technical skills in fauna monitoring and data management is mandatory.
  • Knowledge and skills in bird and mammal identification is desirable.
  • Current Victorian driver’s licence (mandatory).

This is a fixed term position available until 30 June 2022. The location for this position is flexible within the Gippsland Region.
