About the Role

Due to recent growth, we are looking for an enthusiastic Senior to join our Environmental Services team. Ideally, we are seeking a Senior Ecologist / Environmental Scientist, with strong skills in team leadership, environmental project management and an environmental science discipline (i.e., Australian flora or fauna ecology, environmental planning, GIS analysis, water or construction/soil science etc.).

You will have the opportunity to assist in delivering environmental management and conservation planning solutions on both large and small-scale projects throughout Queensland for a variety of diverse clients.

The role will involve assessments in accordance with State and Commonwealth guidelines, data management, report preparation, proposal preparation, client liaison, and a strong focus on project and budget management.

About You

To be successful in this role you will have:

  • Tertiary qualifications in Environmental Science/Environmental Planning/Ecology/Zoology
  • Working knowledge of QLD, NSW and Commonwealth environmental legislation
  • Skills and experience in ecological surveys and reporting in QLD and/or NSW
  • Strong project, budget, and client management skills
  • Experience in Environmental Impact Statement requirements in QLD and/or NSW relating to ecology
  • Experience in planning, coordinating and undertaking fieldwork, as well as a willingness and capability to conduct remote field work
  • Demonstrated data analysis and report writing skills
  • Experience in preparing a range of high-quality consulting reports
  • Working knowledge of:
    • fauna habitat and survey techniques
    • fauna identification and handling
    • QLD and/or NSW flora species
    • QLD and/or NSW regional ecosystems framework
  • Well-developed analytical, written, and verbal communication skills
  • Current driver’s licence – manual licence preferred.

The following skills and attributes would be highly regarded:

  • Manual Drivers Licence
  • First Aid/CPR
  • Prior ecological consulting experience (preferably in QLD or NSW)
  • Mapping abilities using QGIS and / or ArcGIS
  • Major project safety inductions and training, including construction white card
