The Wurundjeri Woi-wurrung Cultural Heritage Aboriginal Corporation (Wurundjeri Corporation) is a Registered Aboriginal Party appointed under the Aboriginal Heritage Act 2006. The Corporation holds statutory responsibilities for the protection and management of Aboriginal cultural heritage objects and places in Victoria. Additional functions of the corporation include, research, environmental land management (Narrap Rangers), cross-cultural education, traditional welcome to country and smoking ceremonies, and cultural consultations.

Overview of the Narrap Rangers

The Narrap Rangers are a team of experienced and dedicated natural resource managers. We are passionate and committed to creating opportunities for Wurundjeri Woi-wurrung and other Aboriginal people to have culturally meaningful, permanent work that supports our professional development, and continued management of Country.  The Narrap Team works in Natural Resource Management (NRM), which is the integrated management of the natural resources making up our environment, including land, water, soil, plants and animals. 

Role Purpose

We are currently seeking passionate and motivated NRM crew members to undertake environmental works within Wurundjeri Country and assist in training crew members.  This job is physically demanding and there is a requirement to work in all weather conditions, depending on the tasks required.

  • Works reporting
  • Fire and flood Rehabilitation
  • Fauna and Flora monitoring
  • Track maintenance
  • Fencing
  • Restoration & regeneration of landscapes
  • Planting
  • Other duties as directed 

Essential Role Competencies

  • A minimum of 4 years previous experience in Conservation/Land Management, preferably within Victoria
  • Strong communication skills and willingness to mentor and train new crew members
  • Respect for Traditional Owner connection to Country and responsibilities for management of Country
  • A high level of knowledge and experience in environmental tasks/ NRM techniques including herbicide application using knapsacks and high-volume rig equipment, hand weeding, woody weed removal, revegetation works, brush cutting, GPS mapping, etc
  • High ability to identify indigenous and exotic flora species
  • Ability to manage and work in a team environment by working effectively with colleagues
  • Minimum Certificate IV in Conservation and Land Management or similar level of experience in the industry
  • Hold a Chemcert or ACUP
  • Current Victorian Drivers Licence (Manual)
  • Construction OHS Induction card (White/ Red Card)
  • First Aid Level 2
  • Ability to operate four-wheel drive vehicle

 Desirable Role Competencies

  • Chainsaw Level 1. Operate & Maintain Chainsaws.
  • Experience in fire mitigation and fire delivery
  • DELWP General Fire Fighter or similar accreditation
  • Heavy machinery tickets
