About the Saving our Species Program

Saving our Species (SoS) is the NSW Government’s commitment to saving animals and plants at risk of extinction. The NSW Government has invested $175 million over 10 years (2016 – 2026) into the Saving our Species program – making it one of the largest conservation programs of its kind. The priorities for the program over the next five years will be to:

  • ensure resources and projects are in place to save species
  • increase the capacity to respond to emergencies, like bushfires, floods and drought
  • continue to focus on partnerships as integral to the success of the program
  • strengthen our innovation and best practice science and reporting
  • implement translocation projects to create climate refugia, particularly for threatened plants.

The Team Leader leads a team responsible for the delivery of Saving our Species program in the Greater Sydney region. The role involves providing leadership, advice and support to a team delivering targeted conservation projects in a high workload environment.
