Head of Programs

Earthwatch Institute

Salary etc:

Full-time. 3 year contract with potential for permanent position.

Earthwatch is seeking an experienced, passionate and motivated individual to lead our Programs team as the Head of Programs. This individual will help to help deliver our portfolio of public and corporate research programs and expeditions. We are seeking an individual who can learn quickly about the breadth and depth of our programs, and is comfortable taking initiative on business and program development soon after starting.

The Head of Programs is a challenging and rewarding leadership position within the organisation. The successful candidate will have the responsibility for line management of Program Managers and Coordinators that report to them, ensuring programs are delivered successfully. This includes managing corporate partnerships (including proposals, report writing, budget reviews and acquittals), negotiating corporate and research contracts, liaising with the CEO and Deputy in setting organisational strategy, overseeing the OHS of the programs, and liaising with the Scientific Advisory Committee.

While COVID has changed much of the way Earthwatch programs operate, we anticipate that as the pandemic comes under control, at various times throughout the year the position will involve travel and leading Earthwatch teams both within Australia and internationally.

The aim of this position is to provide direction and management of Earthwatch scientific programs in Australia and the Asia/Pacific region.
