Reef Catchments (Mackay Whitsunday Isaac) Limited (Reef Catchments) is the regional natural resource management organisation based in Mackay and the Whitsundays, Queensland. We work regionally to execute projects to meet high standards of environmental excellence and corporate responsibility.

With a strong team of environmental researchers, scientists and facilitators, Reef Catchments is uniquely placed to progress sound communication, engagement and partnerships across diverse stakeholders by virtue of our extensive experience in the public and private sectors, non-government and not-for-profit sectors, industry peak bodies and community groups.

The Reef Catchments team has years of experience in planning and implementing projects that foster sustainability across land and sea and protect our coasts and biodiversity. The purpose of Reef Catchments is to enable sustainable natural resource management in the Mackay Whitsunday Isaac region for the benefit of all.

Reef Catchments is seeking 2 suitably experienced individuals to join our Board of Directors in Mackay as Independent Directors based in Mackay.

The Board provides strategic, risk and governance support to the CEO and Executive team of the organisation.  Relevant skills and expertise in the areas of Catchment Management, Coastal Management and Traditional Owners will be regarded favourably.

The position is remunerated (sitting fee), and Board Meetings are held bi-monthly in Mackay, during business hours.

Role Requirements

The following selection criteria applies:

  • Experience in relevant sector (Business, Community, Agriculture, Other)
  • A Commitment to work within the mission and ethos of Reef Catchments
  • Experience and/or knowledge in Environmental Services or Natural Resource Management
  • Experience in risk management, audit and compliance frameworks
  • Experience as a board director
  • Prior governance experience, including the ability to operate strategically and engage stakeholders.
  • Effective communication and meeting skills.
  • A genuine passion to contribute to the growth and sustainability of the organization.
