About Us

The Environmental Factor is an environmental consultancy based in the Central Tablelands of NSW. Managing environmental impact mitigation and monitoring programs for large or small development projects is our specialty. 

We are passionate about helping guide our clients through the legal and agency stakeholder approval process by building a practical framework from which projects can evolve and thrive.

We are a small, tight knit team who love a good laugh. We bring energy to the work we do, and focus on relationship building both within our team and with our clients. About The Role:

We are currently seeking an experienced Ecologist to join our team. Using your knowledge and skills, you will be working along side other ecologists to support the delivery of a variety of diverse projects. 

In your role, you will be required to undertake ecological assessments, field surveys, data collection, data analysis, report writing, and communicate with clients, subcontractors and various other stakeholders. You will also be required to assist with the preparation of proposals and management and coordination of ecological surveys and assessments. 

This role is part-time and will be required to work from home as part of normal practice. An ability to be able to attend regular field work across the Central Tablelands and Central West is a must. 


  • Compiling and writing technical reports as required, ensuring reports are being delivered to standard, within project budget and on time.
  • Assisting with project management and the coordination of sub-contractors/specialist reports.
  • Conducting and assisting with the planning and overseeing of fieldwork, including ecological and environmental site assessments, and acting as in-field leader for junior staff as required.
  • Understanding and implementing correct field survey techniques.
  • Collecting, processing, and analysing high quality data.
  • Managing travel arrangements, planning and preparing for fieldwork.
  • Ensuring legislative requirements are met on projects.
  • Developing data analysis skills for reporting.
  • Researching fieldwork techniques/attending training to ensure concurrence on scientific methods and techniques for use in the field.
  • Assisting with data collation needed for licensing renewals.
  • Preparation of draft invoices for approval.
  • Drafting safety documentation and ensuring compliance with safety protocols and procedures.
  • Participating and attending appropriate training courses that ensure the acquisition of new skills/knowledge.


  • Degree in ecology, forestry, environmental science, or related field.
  • 3+ years of work experience in an Ecology role.
  • Have experience working on NRM jobs;
  • Proficient computer skills including Excel and Word.
  • Outstanding communication skills, both verbal and written.
  • Ability to work outdoors and in a variety of climatic conditions.
  • Availability to travel to site.
