We are looking for an enthusiastic Ecologist to join our team. Ideally, we are seeking a Terrestrial Ecologist, with strong skills in Australian flora survey, identification and management.

You will have the opportunity to assist in delivering environmental management and conservation planning solutions on both large- and small-scale projects throughout Queensland for a variety of clients.

The role will involve assessments in accordance with State and Commonwealth guidelines, data management, report preparation, proposal preparation, client liaison, and project and budget management depending on your level of expertise.

To be successful in this role you will have:

  • Tertiary qualifications in Environmental Science/Ecology/Zoology
  • Working knowledge of Queensland and Commonwealth environmental legislation
  • Skills and experience in flora surveys and reporting; including surveys for protected plants, threatened ecological communities and BioCondition assessments in use in Queensland and/or New South Wales
  • Working knowledge of fauna survey techniques and fauna identification and handling
  • Working knowledge of Queensland regional ecosystems framework
  • Queensland flora species and fauna habitat knowledge and identification skills
  • Knowledge of Environmental Impact Statement requirements in QLD relating to ecology
  • Experience in planning, coordinating and undertaking ecological fieldwork
  • Willingness and capability to conduct remote field work
  • Demonstrated data analysis and report writing skills
  • Strong time and project management skills
  • A commitment to safety and safe work practices
  • Well-developed analytical, written, and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to work well with a variety of other people and work safely in the field
  • Current driver’s licence – manual licence preferred.

The following skills and attributes would be highly regarded:

  • Experience in preparing a range of high-quality consulting reports
  • Prior ecological consulting experience (preferably in QLD)
  • Experience using GIS
  • Major project safety inductions and training, including construction white card
  • Strong project, budget, and client management skills.
