Volunteer Community Representatives for the Sustainable Environment Advisory Committee

Yarra Ranges Council are seeking applications for an exciting opportunity for thirteen (13) local volunteer community representatives to take part in the Sustainable Environment Advisory Committee for a three-year term (2021-2024). The thirteen positions include:

  • Ten (10) general community members
  • One (1) community representative with links to the indigenous community, and
  • Two (2) young people with an interest in developing knowledge and networks within the environment sector

The Yarra Ranges is located east of Melbourne and is renowned for its natural environment. Yarra Ranges is home to valued townships, urban streetscapes, forested mountains, rural valleys and important waterways.

The Committee aims to provide Yarra Ranges Council with informed and constructive advice, input and support. This will help guide the Council on environment and sustainability issues relevant to how we manage our natural environment.

We are looking for a diverse committee with preference for individuals who live locally or have a strong connection to the Yarra Ranges. You might have interest, skills, experience or background relevant to any aspect of environmental stewardship including but not limited to; water management, biodiversity conservation, energy and climate change, sustainable development, land use and environmental planning.
