The City of Kalamunda is seeking an experienced and skilled spray operator to join their parks team. A person with demonstrated experience and knowledge of herbicide application and control methods.

About this Opportunity

This position will play a pivotal role in assisting the Parks Team achieve and maintain sustainable land use through weed control and maintenance spraying of roadside infrastructure, reserves and parks and garden across the City.

Some of the skills and experience required for this position:

  • Experience in the safe application of herbicides, insecticides and fungicides
  • Experience in mixing and applying pesticides using equipment such as backpacks, boom, and high-volume sprayers
  • Demonstrated awareness of the importance of public safety in the application of herbicides
  • Experience in leading teams, adhering to work schedules and prioritising work in a public situation.
  • Ability to organise oneself, the team and maintain inventories
  • Be Self-motivated and well presented and have a positive attitude
  • Developed oral and written literacy and numeracy skills to enable effective communication with the work group, higher level staff, contractor, suppliers and members of the public.
  • Effective at solving problems using original solutions based on previous experience.
  • Be able to work autonomously with minimal guidance or supervision.
  • Be committed to learning and personal development.
  • Understanding of the importance of wearing protective clothing such as full-length overalls, gloves, masks, wet weather gear, and covered shoes.
  • Have a MR Manual Drivers Licence
  • Certificate in Chainsaw Operations (ideal)
  • Basic Worksite Traffic Management (BWTM) and Traffic Controller (TC) tickets or the ability to obtain them (ideal)

Hours of Work

This is a full time permanent position with hours of work beginning at 6.30am to 3:45pm (pre start at applicable overtime rate), 76 hours over a 9-day fortnight with a scheduled rostered day off either Monday or Friday.

About the Benefits

This position offers a salary of Level 6 being $67,825 to $69,880 per annum, plus 10% superannuation. Other inclusions are annual increments, EBA salary increases, a generous superannuation co-contribution scheme, 22 annual leave days with loading and sick leave.
