About the role

  • The Conservation and Pest Management – Technical Officer position will be responsible for providing support to the Principal and Coordinators to deliver: Fire Management projects; Capital projects; and Operational projects. The role will include the procurement of goods and services, the overseeing of contracts and contractors, and reporting on deliverables against delivery schedules and budget.
  • The Salary Range for this position is $72,555.84 - $77,602.25 gross per annum plus 17.5% annual leave loading and up to 12.4% superannuation.
  • This is a permanent full time position, which will be based at the Charlton Principal Depot.

  1. Hold the mandatory qualification(s), training and/or experience, as outlined under the 'Success Criteria' in the Position Description (attached).
  2. Demonstrated ability to work cooperatively in a team environment by developing effective working relationships with a variety of stakeholders.
  3. Demonstrated ability to exercise judgement and initiative where procedures and practices are not clearly defined.
  4. High level oral, numeracy and written communication skills including conflict resolution and negotiation skills in order to communicate and negotiate agreed actions and outcomes to internal and external customers.
  5. Excellent customer service skills with the ability to provide accurate timely advice in a helpful and supportive manner.
  6. Demonstrated ability to deliver projects in a timely manner.
  7. Demonstrated ability to accurately report on deliverables against project schedules and budget.
  8. Demonstrated ability to ensure all work is performed to meet safety legislative requirements and responsibilities of Council. This includes complying with all workplace instructions and procedures, using protective equipment provided and not placing any peoples’ safety at risk by your actions.
  9. Demonstrated knowledge of and experience in contemporary fire management practices and principals.
  10. Demonstrated knowledge of and experience in project management.
  11. Demonstrated skills in the operation of computer applications with the ability to adapt to new systems.
  12. Sound knowledge of section policies and procedures, and a demonstrated knowledge of statutory requirements relevant to the work area.
