Job Description 

We are looking for a dynamic South-eastern Red-tailed Black-Cockatoo Recovery Project

Coordinator (SERTBC) to coordinate and deliver high priority recovery activities in close partnership with a wide range of public and private stakeholders to improve the trajectory of the South-eastern Red-tailed Black Cockatoo.

The SERTBC will be responsible for coordination and delivery of key actions from the National Recovery Plan. In particular, the position will work closely with the Recovery Team and partner organisations to deliver project activities funded as part of the Australian Government’s National Landcare Program 2 (NLP2).

You will do this by:

  • Coordinating volunteers to conduct range wide counts
  • Conducting various SERTBC monitoring activities
  • Organising, implementing, and maintaining the SERTBC nest box monitoring program
  • Coordinating meetings of the SERTBC recovery team
  • Collaborating with stakeholders to manage the most significant threats to habitats
  • Developing and implementing community education programs
  • Developing communications including website content, presentations and project newsletters
  • Maintaining and managing the SERTBC sighting database

Status and Remuneration

This is a Part-time position (0.8FTE) based within the range of the cockatoo in either the south-east of South Australia or south-western Victoria on a two-year contract. Salary up to $54,942 per annum (pro rata of full time equivalent) plus 9.5% superannuation.
