Local capacity building is a strong focus of the role which also requires leading and facilitating Landscape Groups that link the South Australian Arid Lands Landscape Board and the community.

This role builds stakeholder partnerships across communities to achieve community development outcomes as they relate to natural resource management. Key stakeholders include pastoralists, volunteer groups, conservation organisations, local government, progress associations, industry, government agencies, schools and First Nation groups.

This role requires regular travel into remote and isolated areas, long distance driving and regular overnight absences.   

Special Conditions

  • May be required to participate in fire management or associated duties.
  • Current class “C” drivers licence and willingness and ability to safely operate a 4wd is essential.
  • Intrastate and remote area travel is required, including travel in light aircraft.
  • Demonstrates ability to work alone and be self-reliant.
  • Some out of hours work is required, necessitating occasional overnight stays.

  • Position based in Port Augusta.
  • This role has functions pertaining to working with children and is prescribed under the Child Safety (Prohibited Person) Act 2016 as requiring a Working With Children Check (WWCC).   • This role has been designated as a Position of Trust pursuant to the standards required in the Australian Government Protective Security Policy Framework.
