The Jacobs Ecology team deliver complex and technically challenging local and national projects for clients involved in a wide range of infrastructure and development activities, including major construction projects, state and national public utilities, large-scale environmental initiatives, renewable energy projects, transport infrastructure and environmental management programs. Our Ecologists also provide support to a range of environmental management and restoration programs.

We are seeking to appoint an experienced Project Ecologist to our Ecology Team. Based in Melbourne, you will lead and contribute to identifying, sourcing and winning opportunities by building strong relationships with clients and leading and/or writing proposals. You will provide guidance as to the strategic direction of the ecology business in Victoria, whilst leading and supporting the delivery of terrestrial ecology projects.

Here's what you'll need

As an experienced terrestrial Ecologist, you will have a good understanding of Victorian and national legislative requirements and industry practices relevant to the field of ecology. Previous experience managing ecology-related projects, including fieldwork programs in a consulting environment is ideal.

Other key requirements for the role include:

  • Tertiary qualification in Ecology or Environmental Science related discipline, ideally with honours
  • Substantial field survey experience – logistics planning, HSEC knowledge, mobilising and managing field teams
  • Driver’s licence essential, 4wd experience and accreditation preferable
  • Experience with field data collection, and management and analysis of ecological data
  • Some experience in GIS, field mapping and developing and managing spatial datasets
  • VQA Accreditation and botany skills would be favourably looked upon
