About the Opportunity

In this role you will undertake activities that will assist in the maintenance of Council’s bushland and riparian areas and ensure that these Open Spaces remain in excellent condition, safe and suitable for use by the community. You will also assist in ensuring customer and community satisfaction with Councils parks operations.

To be considered for this position you will have:

  • Relevant qualifications, experience and demonstrated understanding of best practice relating to bushland regeneration techniques
  • Demonstrated experience operating small plant equipment related to bushland regeneration for example brushcutters, chainsaws etc
  • Demonstrated ability to deal in a positive and courteous manner with the public and other workers.
  • Good verbal and written communication skills – ability to write clearly and neatly when completing necessary paperwork
  • Ability to work as part of a team with good interpersonal skills
  • Sound knowledge and practical application of WHS principles and the Work Health and Safety legislation

Salary: Employment is under the Local Government (State) Award. This position is placed in Grade 4 of the new Cumberland salary structure with a salary range of $932.38 to $1,072.23 per week plus superannuation. Commencement salary will depend upon qualifications, experience and competencies.

Conditions of Employment: This is a permanent full time position, based on 70 hour fortnight, with an access to 9 day fortnight. Working hours are 6.30am to 3.00pm.
