$69,199 p.a. + super.

The Eastern Metropolitan Regional Council is a Perth based Regional Local Government providing services in waste management, regional development and environmental management and sustainability.

  • Full time position, $69,199 base rate plus superannuation
  • Initial 2 year fixed term contract
  • Local Government organisation
  • Up to 14.50% superannuation and 17.5% leave loading
  • Ascot based location

An opportunity has arisen for a highly motivated Natural Environment Officer to join our Sustainability Team at our Ascot Place Head Office. The successful candidate will be responsible for providing a high level of support to community landcare groups, supporting member councils, applying for and implementing grant applications for natural bushland projects. The opportunity to work with leading research institutions to assist with ground breaking research addressing current environmental issues, educating the community and promoting valuable landcare work made possible by the volunteers in the region make this a diverse and rewarding role. 

Essential to your success in this role will be your ability to demonstrate your past success in providing a high level of customer service, with a can do attitude.

  • Formal qualifications and/or extensive demonstrated experience in Environmental Science, Environmental Management, Natural Resource Management, or other relevant discipline.
  • Effective oral communications skills, including community engagement, presentation and facilitation.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of environmental management and its practical application with the ability to develop alternative solutions to issues.
  • Demonstrated proficiency in the use of Microsoft Office software packages and associated applications.
  • Demonstrated verbal communication and interpersonal skills across a diverse range of stakeholders.
  • Demonstrated written communication skills, including the ability to write professionally competent reports, plans, submissions, advocacy and grant applications.
  • Demonstrated project development, project management, data analysis and research skills including the capacity to research and interpret technical information.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage a varied and demanding workload, prioritise workflow, and meet deadlines.
