Field Ecologist - Fauna

AMBS Ecology & Heritage Pty Ltd

Throughout NSW

AMBS Ecology & Heritage is seeking individuals with experience in fauna survey.

Our work includes flora and fauna surveys, vegetation mapping, biodiversity monitoring, ecological impact assessments, Biodiversity Assessment Method (BAM) reports, flora and fauna management plans, nest box work and fauna “spotters”. Most of our projects incorporate a fieldwork component and some of the work is seasonal.

We are looking for applicants with:

  • 2 - 5 years’ experience in ecological work;
  • strong fauna identification skills;
  • willingness to work in remote and regional areas for several days at a time, including outside normal hours, over weekends, and in adverse weather conditions;
  • ability to use technology such as GPS, smart-phones, digital cameras, i-pads and laptop computers;
  • commitment to meticulous recording of field data;
  • strong understanding of, and commitment to, WH&S in the field;
  • ability to deal with a range of clients, colleagues and regulatory authorities with professionalism and integrity;
  • current driver’s licence.

Criteria that are not essential, but will be well-regarded, include experience in the ecological consulting industry, a current Senior First Aid certificate, ability to drive a manual vehicle and experience using a 4WD in off-road environments.

Due to the seasonal nature of the work, there are multiple positions available for individuals interested in casual work, and potentially a full-time role for suitable candidates.

Applicants from throughout NSW will be considered as much of the survey work will not be Sydney-based.

You must have the right to work in Australia to be considered for this role.
