Jacobs Ecology team deliver complex and technically challenging local and national projects for clients involved in a wide range of infrastructure and development activities, including major construction projects, state and national public utilities, large-scale environmental initiatives, renewable energy projects, transport infrastructure and environmental management programs. Our Ecologists also provide support to a range of environmental management and restoration programs. We are seeking to appoint an experienced Senior Ecologist to our Ecology Team. Based in Newcastle, you will provide technical leadership and input to a range of projects across various industry sectors. Your skills and experience will assist in the development of junior staff within the team.

Here's what you'll need

As an experienced terrestrial Ecologist; you will have a good understanding of environmental science; New South Wales and national legislative requirements and industry practices relevant to the field of ecology; experience with managing ecology-related projects gained through previous consulting experience. Other key requirements for the role include:

  • Tertiary qualification in Ecology or Environmental Science related discipline, ideally with honours or PhD
  • Substantial field survey experience – logistics planning, HSEC knowledge, mobilising and managing field teams
  • Driver’s licence essential, 4wd experience and accreditation preferable
  • Experience with field data collection, and management and analysis of ecological data
  • Some experience in GIS, field mapping and developing and managing spatial datasets
  • BAM Accreditation and botany skills would be favourably looked upon
