The NSW Biodiversity Conservation Trust (BCT), as part of the Department of Planning, Industry & Environment (DPIE) cluster, has an exciting opportunity for an Ecologist to work within the regional delivery branch of the BCT and contribute to the processing of biodiversity stewardship agreements (BSA’s) and contribute to the goal of delivering a strategic offsetting service. This role is an initial 18-month tenure with possible extension.
The Ecologist will work within your regional team and with the centralised BSA team to undertake the review and drafting of BSAs.
You will require understanding of the NSW BCT’s legislative, strategic and operational framework to secure this role.
Your technical expertise, superior communication skills, ability to work with a wide range of stakeholders, and understanding of the BCT’s operating environment having a focus on landholder engagement and customer service, are essential.
You will ideally have worked in a similar field with the ability to be pro-active in your approach and work within a broader team. This role will have a significant amount of travel and time in the field.
A Recruitment Pool may be established for future roles with similar focus capabilities. The Recruitment Pool may be available to hiring managers from Planning and Environment Cluster and other NSW Public Sector agencies over an 18-month period.
The New South Wales Biodiversity Conservation Trust (BCT) is a not-for-profit statutory body, established under Part 10 of the Biodiversity Conservation Act 2016 and managed by a Board appointed by the Minister for the Environment. The Trust’s roles are to support and encourage landholders to enter into agreements to conserve and protect biodiversity on private land, guided by the government’s Biodiversity Conservation Investment Strategy; secure biodiversity offsets when developers choose to pay into the Biodiversity Conservation Fund; and other activities that promote greater awareness of, appreciation and understanding of, biodiversity and the importance of conserving it.
