About the role:

Umwelt is seeking an experienced Restoration Ecologist to join our strong and highly regarded team of skilled and professional Ecologists, based at our Newcastle office.

Our ideal candidate would be developing a strong reputation as a Restoration Ecologist, including key contacts within the industry and a strong professional reputation and demonstrated skillset. This role will enjoy dealing with clients and delivering projects, and would have strong ecological survey, reporting and assessment skills.

You will contribute to the growth and development of a restoration ecology team.  You will work closely with our Principal Restoration Ecologist, and other project managers and Ecologists to deliver quality project outcomes, and to identify market opportunities and develop and implement business growth and improvement strategies.

About you:

We are looking for a motivated and enthusiastic Restoration Ecologist with at least 3 years of experience who has:

• Strong technical ecological skills including experience delivering ecological restoration and management projects in NSW.
• Demonstrated experience in planning and undertaking ecological surveys, with flora survey and assessment experience desirable.
• A degree/post graduate qualification in environmental science, botany, zoology environmental science (or similar).
• Strong restoration ecology experience, such as large-scale bush regeneration and mine/site rehabilitation.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills with the capacity to prepare and review reports to near final quality
• A demonstrated ability to develop and maintain positive relationships with a range of stakeholders.
• BAM accredited or with extensive experience in BAM and/or other biometric data capture and analysis is desirable.
• Prior experience in bushfire planning and assessment would be considered favourably.
