Due to continued growth within our business, we have a great opportunity for an Ecologist who also has proficient spatial analyst skills who is looking to progress their career as an Ecologist / Spatial Analysist. This role will be based at our Newcastle office and join our strong team of skilled Ecology professionals.

About the role:

We are seeking an Ecologist / Spatial Analyst who is looking to progress their career in ecological consulting. Our ideal candidate holds prior experience in conducting ecological field work within NSW, has demonstrated skills in spatial analyst work and is motivated to develop their technical skills on a number of exciting Projects. The successful applicant strives for technical excellence and will be focused on delivering high quality project outcomes.

About you:

We are looking for a motivated and enthusiastic experienced Ecologist/ Spatial Analyst who has:

  • Tertiary qualifications in a relevant field, and has 3-8 years’ experience, with prior consulting experience highly regarded
  • Completed studies in a geospatial related discipline
  • Demonstrated experience in planning and undertaking ecological surveys
  • Prior experience and knowledge of State and Commonwealth environmental legislation
  • Prior experience in bushfire planning and assessment would be considered favourably.
  • Experience in developing and maintaining positive relationships with a range of stakeholders including peers, clients and government agencies
  • Highly proficient use of QGIS and the ArcGIS platform and detailed understanding of GIS technology solutions
  • Proven ability to interrogate data to assist in decision making
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills, including the ability to effectively share knowledge, ideas and solutions within project teams
  • Experience in delivering and managing data for large scale, complex projects utilising multiple programs across multiple data sets
  • Ability to contribute to proactive development and further enhancement of systems, processes and deliverables within Umwelt
  • Ability to work autonomously, is highly motivated and has strong team commitment.
  • Be willing to work flexible hours and travel for work
