The Northern Territory Department of Environment, Parks and Water Security is looking for a suitably qualified and experienced person to work within the Rangeland Monitoring Branch as the Senior Rangeland Monitoring Officer.
This position is a permanent, full time position located in Alice Springs. The position provides frontline monitoring and extension services to pastoralists and the Pastoral Land Board in assessing land condition of the pastoral estate, in accordance with the Pastoral Land Act 1992.
The successful applicant will have knowledge of landscape processes and rangeland livestock production, including interactions between grazing practices, fires and seasonal conditions and their potential impact on natural resource management. They will have experience in monitoring land condition in arid and/or savannah environments and use of GPS and a range of computer systems including GIS. They will have experience and willingness to supervise staff, set, manage and deliver work programs and work safely and effectively in remote localities for extended periods of time.
