Land Development Coordination, Rangelands Division

The Department of Environment, Parks and Water Security currently has a vacancy for the position of Principal Vegetation Assessment Officer (Palmerston) within the Rangelands Division.

The position reports to the Land Development Facilitator and is responsible for providing expert vegetation management and assessment advice to land managers, industry, government and consent authorities to support the sustainable development and conservation of the Northern Territory’s natural resources.

The position is required to manage a small team responsible for coordinating the assessment process for native vegetation clearing and non-pastoral use applications under the Pastoral Land Act 1992 and the Planning Act 1999, through the provision of timely written comments, technical assessments, and reports for the consent authority. The position is also required to maintain spatial databases and undertake compliance, exercising responsibilities as an authorised officer in relation to vegetation management.
