The vast majority of our work involves herbicide use to manage weeds in endangered high quality remnant grasslands and grassy woodlands on the Victorian Volcanic Plain in Western Melbourne. We constantly seek out new work in these habitats throughout Victoria and this kind of work is part of our core business at Abzeco. We are seeking applicants that have previous experience working on a bush crew in this kind of vegetation. If you enjoy this kind of working environment and are willing to undertake long periods of highly strenuous physical activity in challenging weather conditions, we can provide an excellent employment opportunity.

  • Chainsaw Users Certificate – Level 1 and 2

 Required experience level:

  • 3+ years post-study working with bush crew/s;
  • Expertise in safe handling of chainsaws, brushcutters, mowers and other small power tools;
  • Expertise in the safe handling of scheduled chemicals, predominantly herbicides using a variety of standard methods; and
  • Intermediate level knowledge of Victorian flora and fauna, or a basic level knowledge with strong desire to develop this skill.

We anticipate that successful applicants will have a strong set of references, will complete a short questionnaire to gauge their experience level, participate in a brief interview and meet some of the existing crew during early trial work. Successful applicants will be remunerated according to their level of experience based on the Abzeco schedule of rates.
