Australian Fisheries Management Authority (AFMA)

Canberra, ACT

The Australian Fisheries Management Authority (AFMA) is seeking applications for an upcoming vacant Chair position on one of its Management Advisory Committees (MAC) for the Bass Strait Central Zone Scallop Fishery (BSCZSF).

The BSCZSF operates in the Bass Strait between Tasmanian and Victoria/New South Wales border west through Bass Strait to the Victorian/ South Australian border. The fishery is managed by AFMA, however Victoria and Tasmania also manage scallop fisheries off their respective coastlines. The Scallop Management Advisory Committee is the principle forum where issues relating to the Bass Strait Central Zone Scallop Fishery are discussed, problems identified and possible solutions developed.

The appointment will be from the date of appointment until 1 August 2024 in line with the rest of the MAC’s terms of appointment.
